First few weeks

The first few weeks are going smoother than I had imagined. Hunter is adapting very well to having a baby brother. We were nervous that he would not like Gage and/or we would have to keep a watchful eye on him around Gage. However, he has proved us wrong. He has been wonderful! He just now touched Gage for the first time last week. He will take diapers to the diaper genie for us, grab his pacifier, or anything that we ask for. He has acted out a little more at times but we were prepared for that. We figured it would have been worse than it is now but that doesn't mean it is not challenging at times. Gage still has his nights and days mixed up.. you can do anything in your power to wake this little one up and he couldn't care less. He actually sleeps better with noise. It seems like the louder the better. Once we are heading to bed his precious eyes open and he is wide awake. It is lovely! haha
Matt and I are still very sleep deprived. Matt is camping out in Hunter's room right now so that he could possibly get a few more hours of sleep since he is working. That plan works out at times but sometimes when Gage wakes up so does Hunter. So one parent is tending to one while the other is tending to the other child. Life as a family of 4 has been great and I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Someone was not too fond of a bath. Actually he is not to fond of being without clothes period. In the past week he is getting better. He doesn't cry when I give him a bath or change his clothes, but he does hold on tight to my finger like "please don't let me go!"

He is such a thinker. I told him he is going to have thinking wrinkles by the time he is 4. I need to get a picture if his normal true thinking face where his whole forehead is full of wrinkles. It is precious!
First doctor's visit. When Gage was born he weighed 6lb 9oz and 19.5 inches long. By the time he left the hospital he weighed 6lb 3oz. At his first visit he weighed 6lb 2oz but was 19 3/4 inches long. He lost weight but was growing. Since he lost weight since the hospital we had to go back the next week to check his weight again. He was 6lb 4 oz and 20 inches long. I guess he isn't gaining as quickly because we have to go again this week to weigh him again. I am not as concerned right now because he is a happy and content baby. He eats when he is hungry and has plenty of normal diapers. Can't wait to see how much he has grown when we go back Wednesday.

Welcome Baby Gage!

On March 4th I went home from work early because I was having major pain in my back and I just really felt like I needed to go lay down and monitor it just to make sure it wasn't back labor. I didn't go to the doctor because I knew my water hadn't broken and I was going to the doctor the next day anyway. When I went to the doctor, he confirmed that I was having back labor and was dilated to 3 cm and 70% thinned. YAY! He told me to come back around 6 the next morning to the labor and delivery floor and if I had dilated to a 4 then I would be meeting Gage on the 6th of March. I was up that whole night having contractions so I knew I was going to be a 4 (or better have been, I would hate for all that pain to be for nothing.. ha!).  I was indeed dilated so we got the ball rolling to get the baby here. I had the most wonderful, sweetest and funniest nurses at Russell Medical Center. They were the best!
Labor was slowly progressing so big brother and all the grandparents waited patiently in the waiting room.
This silly cross-eyed boy loves his dinosaurs :-)

By 2:15 pm we had a beautiful 6lb 9oz and 19.5 inches long baby boy.

 Proud Daddy!
He still to this day does not like baths and does not like his clothes to be changed. Completely opposite from Hunter.. he loved/loves baths and loves not having clothes on.
 sweet little angel
It was pretty late before I could get moved to the room where I would stay for the next couple of days so we said our goodbyes to most of the visitors, but not before a late night bible story reading.

Once I got settled into my hospital room, we then had a few wonderful visitors and was able to get some much needed rest.

We missed Hunter dearly while we were in the hospital but grateful that we got to see him for an hour or two each day. Those little rooms were insane to try to keep a 3 year old entertained so an hour was just about all he could handle.

Gage was supposed to have been born a few days before Easter so I bought a bunny outfit to take him home in. Well he came a little early and so did the Easter Bunny :-)

Welcome to this world sweet Gage! We are beyond thrilled that you are here and to start this journey as a family of four :-)
