We started off the Halloween celebration by attending the festival in Hollins. Hunter enjoyed playing on the playground and I was just amazed that the playground equipment was still up! Matt and I played on this playground when we were little and at that time the equipment had seen better days.... but it was special to have him play on the same stuff that Matt and I use to play on (unfortunately Matt and I didn't know each other at that time). Hunter had to go to ride on every ride... He didn't want anything to feel left out. What a sweet little boy! :-)
Grammy took him on his first ride down the big boy slide.... Hunter looks scared to death. He had more fun standing at the end of the slide and cheering for everyone else as they came down.

The festival was to raise money for the Volunteer Fire Department in Hollins. Hunter has seen fire trucks go by on the road but he has never gotten to get close to one, right when he saw it he starting making the siren sound. Of course, I had to take a picture of him on the fire truck. Maybe one day his sweet cousins and Uncle Louie can take him for a ride in the fire truck...

Uncle Louie made good sausage hot dogs with cooked peppers and onions on it. Hunter hardly stops long enough to eat anything so I was shocked to go to the table and see him eating all of his Dad's hot dog. I was so embarrassed to eat mine because it was plain (like everything is) and Hunter is sitting beside me finishing up his hot dog that had everything on it. I am so glad once he slows down that he is open to try new things.
Hunter loves the movie "Happy Feet". When he watches it, he will stand up and start tapping his feet on the hardwood floor just like the penguin does in the movie. I never showed him his costume until we got to the church and when we put it on him, he was thrilled. He looked down at his bow tie and looked at me with this look of "I look sharp...look at me!" He didn't understand everyone giving him candy at first but he warmed up quick once he starting eating a Dum Dum... after that he wasn't shy and would reach for a sucker instead of waiting for people to put candy in his bag.

Grammy and Granddad participated in the Trunk or Treat at the church... I would have to say that they had the best decorated "trunk" there.
Pops and his Penguin :-)
Hunter loves his Mimi!
He insisted on Mimi eating some of his sucker. He would not take no for an answer!
After all of the candy that Hunter ate, I figured he needed some real food in his system. All that we could get him to eat was popcorn...guess that's better than nothing. Overall, we had a blast and can't wait for next year!!

October at the beach (2)

The day that Matt, Hunter and I left.. the grand kids got up and went to the beach to take pictures. Now that Hunter is going 90 to nothing, I had to take a bunch of pictures just to be able to get 10 good ones :-) He was such a trooper. Thank you Hunter for understanding that all of your life you will have a camera around taking pictures of you. If it is not me taking them, then it will be Mimi.... just keep smiling!!

He has learned how to snap and he was showing Luke that he could do it.....

You are growing way too fast Hunter. Thank you for taking these pictures for me so that I can remember and cherish all of the good times that we have as a family. Life without you was boring and meaningless. Now that you are here, our lives are full of energy and meaning. Your Dad and I love you very much and can't wait to experience each day in the future with you.

October at the beach (1)

We got to take a long weekend vacation to the beach with Matt's family. The weather was perfect.. it was chilly in the morning when we woke up (got to remember, Hunter gets up at 5:30 a.m.) but around 9:30 or 10:00 the temperature was perfect. On our first trip this year to the beach, Hunter enjoyed the sand and ocean but was more relaxed than he was on this trip. This time.... he understood what all the beach had to offer and he wanted to experience and see everything.
He had a blast hanging out with Luke and Sara. They are the best cousins and really guide and take care of Hunter. They are two of the best kids I know!
Grandad spent the first day digging this HUGE hole. It even had steps and everything in it. As people were walking on the beach, they would stop just to get a look at how big it was. They were very impressed. He enjoyed digging it, I enjoyed watching.. haha. I told him I wasn't working that hard on vacation :-) The kids really loved it (which is why Grandad loves doing it)!

Hunter loved the birds on the beach. He would be playing in the sand and if one stopped near him, he threw down those toys and went chasing after the birds. He just didn't quite understand why the birds would always fly away. I have got to hand it to him... he is strong willed. He would keep chasing every bird he saw... no matter how long he had to run. Lets just say, he took a LONG nap after all of that chasing.

This is Hunter's new friend, Ansley. They have played before the beach trip but this time he was more comfortable around her. Right when she walked in the door, he started giving her kisses. I wasn't in the room when he was doing that, but when he saw me he immediately stopped! They were precious on the beach together. He doesn't share his crackers too much but he eagerly shared them with her. If she wasn't so darn cute, I might have gotten jealous... just kidding!

Pumpkin Patch

When I see pumpkins.. I immediately think of the fall, football season, and especially cooler weather. However, in the South it is fall time, football season, but it is definitely not cooler. We went to the pumpkin patch and were hoping to get good "fall" pictures. Thank goodness we didn't dress for fall time because it was very HOT! We got there around 9 in the morning and by 11 we were about ready to go. All in all, we had a good time though. I am glad we battled the heat because we left with memories that I will cherish forever!!

The Animal Humane Society had a game booth set up. Hunter picked these two stuffed animals out. He loves ducks so he picked the green duck/bird out and then we helped him pick out the teddy bear.
He loved the little pumpkins... He really thought they were orange "balls". He would pick them up and we would see that arm go back and we would run over to grab the pumpkin out of his hands. We knew he was going to try to throw that pumpkin just like it was a ball.

So we drive all the way to Clanton, Alabama to let Hunter pick out his pumpkin, enjoy a funnel cake, cotton candy, and all of the other activities and the main thing he wanted to do was play with the gravel. I love that it does not take much to amuse him.
They had a petting zoo that had some piglets, cow, goats, pony's, chickens, and rabbits. He loved the piglets the best..
On our way to pick to let Hunter pick out his pumpkin
I already informed Matt that I didn't care what the pumpkin looked like, as long as we get the one that Hunter picks out. I didn't care if it was small, big, round, irregular shape, it didn't matter. We let him down in the pumpkin patch and we figured he would go to the first one he saw but he didn't. He went past a few and decided on this one to be his pumpkin!

(Hunter helping his Daddy carry his BIG pumpkin)

Hunter and his Mimi... (and Mimi's water bottle.. haha) We had to just take pictures with the water bottle because he was not going to let it go!

On beautiful fall days, we love to get outside and enjoy the beautiful day that God has blessed us with. When I got home from work, this little man was busy riding in his car with his Grammy. Before today, we had to push Hunter in the car but today he finally got the hang of it and was able to ride in it by himself. I don't know who was more proud.... him or me!! He was grinning from ear to ear in excitement because he was able to ride and get around by himself.

Matt and I were picking him some of his toys in Hunter's bedroom and when we came into the living room this is where we found Hunter. He had gotten into this toy wagon and threw all of the blocks out of the wagon and was having a blast sitting in it and watching The Backyardigans.
I told him to say "Cheese" and he actually said it... I get more and more amazed with the things that he can say. I know he can say so many things but he is only going to say them when HE wants to. He just keeps me on the edge of my seat waiting to hear and see what all that he can say and do. He amazes me!
