Evening of firsts

Tonight we decided to eat spaghetti and prepared to let Hunter enjoy it to the fullest. At first he was not sure about it because he knows that he is not allowed to throw food in the floor and things like this, but tonight was different... tonight we let him eat however he wanted. Sometimes a kid has to be a kid!

He played around in it for awhile before actually trying the spaghetti.
I finally picked it up and offered it to him and he loved it!

I just told Matt that I was surprised that he has not gotten it in his hair yet. At that moment he started rubbing his hair... that confirmed that he really does know what we are saying when we tell him no..... come here.....etc.
After he finished eating, it was off to take a long and much needed bath.
I woke up this morning just craving chocolate. Yes, it's a woman thing! So my sweet husband decided to make me some homemade brownies. Once the brownies were in the oven, he called me in the kitchen and had the leftover mixture of chocolate for Hunter and me. We do not give Hunter sweets that often, mainly because we don't eat sweets that much anymore. This was definitely a treat for him! Too bad Matt did not have a lot left over :-) Also we have learned a big lesson... look at what time it is before you start offering a 13 month old chocolate. It was getting late at night and chocolate was not the best answer. He was WIDE awake and ready to go. We just laughed and played really hard to drain all of that energy.

It has been confirmed... he likes chocolate!

Yard Sale

The first weekend in June, most everyone from the office that I work for had a yard sale in the office parking lot. Mom and I cleaned out most everything at her house and mine. We were very realistic and put things to be sold that we knew we would never use again or have not thought twice about it in years. Mom had kept all of my Barbies, girl toys, etc. so I went through all of that to try to get stuff out of her storage room. Matt started getting very nervous at the house because I would just start putting stuff in the box to be sold without thinking twice about it. If we have not used it or it hasn't moved from its place in the drawer since we had been in the house, then it was going to the yard sale. He started going behind me on some things and making sure I was not putting anything in it that he really did want to keep! Next time he might volunteer to help me go through stuff just to make sure he knows exactly what I am selling.

At the yard sale it was very HOT and humid. We were supposed to start at 7 but, of course, people started coming at around 6:30 as we are setting up. We had a wonderful turn out and sold just about everything that we had for sale. All of the yard sale action wore Hunter out... about 1 hour into it he was sound asleep. It was very tiring yet successful. Hopefully this fall we will have another one. It is a lot better when a couple of families get together to have one BIG sale.

First Sleep Over

I hate to admit it but it took a year for Matt and I to agree on when the right time would be for Hunter to sleep over at someone else's house. After he turned one, we realized whether we were ready or not...he needed to learn to stay at someone else's house. He stayed at my parents house a couple of weekends ago. You would have thought Matt and I would have gone to eat and hung out with friends.... NAH... we were so tired that we rented a movie and ate dinner at home. I think we just enjoyed talking and seeing each other. Matt found it a little different and strange not having Hunter around.. like at 7:00 pm he stated that he was weird not having to give Hunter a bath. Me on the other hand, I knew he was in good hands and my parents only lived 3 minutes down the road in case something happened. I guess I had the opposite reaction that most mom's have. I will have to admit, first thing the next morning I was ready to go get him. :-)

Mom took these pictures when he woke up Saturday morning. From the sleepy look on his face and the way his hair looks, he slept pretty good without Mommy and Daddy being across the hall.

Matt had to help my step-mother (Nana) cater a wedding all day so after Hunter's morning nap, he and I packed up and went to Mimi and Pop's house to play. We played outside with their dog, Maggie, went to Burks' and WalMart. At Burks', he would not let me hold him because Mimi kept running into "pretty women" that she knew and they would kiss all over him. He was in love and knew he better stick with Mimi after that. I tried to hold him and he just screamed until Mimi rescued him.

We enjoyed eating corn dogs for lunch. It is becoming Hunter's favorite. I guess because it is on a stick and easier to hold...not sure!

It started raining really hard during nap time and the thunder woke him up. After we played inside for a little bit, the rain stopped and we went outside to play.
It looks like he was in true concentration. I don't know about you, but that face has guilty written all over it!

I was not prepared for him to take a bath at Mimi and Pops so I did not bring a t-shirt for him to sleep in. Mom decided that she would find one of my t-shirts that was still at her house. She picked the best one ever!! Varsity Sylacauga Cheerleader shirt... I had to take pictures because I knew his Daddy would be so proud. haha!

He learned how to turn on the clock radio and would turn it on and off and sing and dance to the music.
It was hard to get a good picture because he did not want to sit still, he wanted to dance!

Little Moments

It's the little moments that I will cherish always! Hunter might not remember them right now but I will. While Daddy took a shower, he and I had so much fun playing with his toys. He kept singing, talking, and laughing over the silliest things. (but of course, once I pull out the camera he stops looking at me)
No...there is no one sitting over there :-)
And again... there is no one over at that direction either but he was singing and clapping to the couch just because I was trying to take a picture of him.

He finally decided to look near my direction and sing to me.. still not directly at the camera but close enough! Right now, I take what I can get!

Happy Father's Day!

What Makes A Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,

The majesty of a tree,

The warmth of a summer sun,

The calm of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,

The comforting arm of night,

The wisdom of the ages,

The power of the eagle's flight,

The joy of a morning in spring,

The faith of a mustard seed,

The patience of eternity,

The depth of a family need,

Then God combined these qualities,

When there was nothing more to add,

He knew His masterpiece was complete,

And so, He called it ... Dad

Happy Father's Day to the best Dad in the world. I always dreamed of the perfect father for my children, but Matt exceeds my expectations. He is such a "hands on" Father who wants to be involved in every moment of Hunter's life. I have had some health issues and been sick ever since Hunter has been born. Without asking, Matt stepped up and has helped with everything. By doing this, he is showing Hunter that it's not just a woman's job to clean house, cook supper, etc. He is wonderful! I am also confident that by Matt's example, Hunter will be raised to be a God-fearing Man, will know exactly how to treat a woman, how to be the leader of a household, etc. I am so proud to call him the father of my child. Thank you Matt and Happy Father's Day!

Happy Birthday Michaela!

Today we celebrated Michaela's (Hunter's cousin) birthday. We went swimming, ate hot dogs and hamburgers, and ate cake and ice cream. We had so much fun swimming and playing with the family. Hunter really does enjoy the pool and does not mind going under water for a second, jumping in the pool to me or Daddy, or being thrown up in the air and being caught by Daddy. He is learning quick that we want him to experience things but will be here no matter what.
This is the precious birthday girl! She is beautiful inside and out and has such a kind spirit.

Michaela's little sister, Mattie. She is the cutest baby who is full of personality.
This little stinker is Christian, Michaela's younger brother. I love how he is so gentle and kind to Hunter. He acts almost like a big brother to him already. Hunter loves him so much!

Little man after he woke up from a much needed nap

He was talking to me and looking right at me until I decided to bring out the camera and then he looks off and would not look at me again. I have a feeling that I am going to have a lot of pictures like this as he grows up. :-)

Friday Night we went to eat Mexican with Pops and Mimi (my mom and stepfather) for Father's Day. We had a great dinner and enjoyed watching Hunter talk and play with the workers at the restaurant. They will come and talk to him and play with him. It is wonderful to see how they interact with him...they don't have to but they do and that's what makes us go back there to eat. Of course, we HAD to ride in the Jeep to the restaurant because it is our stress reliever and it is so much fun watching Hunter hold his hands up trying to catch the air or sing and talk very loudly. He is in his own world in the backseat. When we got through eating, we put Hunter in his car seat and everyone was still talking. He had a blast playing with his Mimi, who was standing at the side of the Jeep.

I was trying to get him to look at the camera so I could get a picture of him. He is just like his Dad and tries to mess with me all the time. He would not look at the camera without making some crazy expression on his face. He's such a mess!

Molars :-(

Hunter has hit the one year mark and now his molars are making there presence be known. Starting last Saturday, he has had a fever...cranky...sleepy (from the pain medicine)...has not been eating... just not feeling good at all. He was pitiful! We rotated giving him Tylenol (off brand since there is a recall on actual Tylenol) and Motrin every 2 hours. This eased him a little and allowed him and his parents to get some much needed rest. He lost a lot of weight these past few days because he really hasn't eaten much and that really had me concerned. This morning he was sleeping so good, that I tried to get ready as quietly as I could because I did not want to wake him up because I assumed he would not be happy. I need to stop assuming because when he woke up he was as happy as could be. He sat right up and just started talking to me and telling me all kinds of things. I just only wish I knew exactly what he was saying. Then he took my hand and walked all through the house and told me about everything...the pictures, his BIG teddy bear named Mr. Bear, his horse, etc. It was precious! We met at Wendy's for lunch and he was starving after not eating for a couple of days. He ate some fries and was still hungry so Matt got him a frosty since it would be cold and feel good on his gums. Well I wanted a bite....let me just tell you, Hunter likes to share but he does not like to share ice cream. He gave me this "Who do you think you are?" look. It was the best!! Yes, Matt went and got me my own ice cream... he did not find it fun feeding Hunter and me :-)

I think he was telling me not to eat his ice cream anymore!

He is definitely feeling better :-)
